AFF Cup 2024 Final: Vietnam vs Thailand

The two teams competing for the 2024 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Cup trophy have been confirmed. The Vietnam national team will face Thailand in the top-tier clash.
Vietnam advanced to the 2024 AFF Cup final by eliminating Singapore in the semifinals.



Vietnam secured victories in both legs against Singapore. Under Kim Sang-sik's leadership, they won 2-0 in Singapore and 3-1 at home, progressing with an aggregate score of 5-1.
This marks Vietnam's fifth appearance in an AFF Cup final, following their campaigns in 1998, 2008, 2018, and 2022. Of their previous four finals, Vietnam emerged victorious twice, lifting the trophy in 2008 and 2018.



Thailand, Vietnam's opponent in the 2024 AFF Cup final, narrowly advanced by defeating the Philippines in a two-legged semifinal. The Philippines led 2-1 after the first leg in Manila. However, Thailand turned the tables with a 3-1 victory in a 120-minute thriller in Bangkok, winning 4-3 on aggregate.

The Thai national team has reached the AFF Cup final 11 times. In 2024, the "War Elephants" are chasing their eighth title, having won the tournament in 1996, 2000, 2002, 2014, 2016, 2020, and 2022.



In 2022, Thailand defeated Vietnam 3-2 on aggregate to claim the championship. Now, the two teams will face off once again in the 2024 AFF Cup final. The first leg of the 2024 AFF Cup final will take place on January 2, 2025, at Vietnam’s home ground. The second leg will follow three days later.
