Sergio Ramos Joins Mexican Club Monterrey, Will Wear No. 93 Jersey

On February 7, Mexican Club Monterrey Officially Announced the Signing of 39-Year-Old Former Real Madrid Captain Sergio Ramos on a One-Year Deal.

Monterrey's official statement read:
"A legendary center-back in world football, a multiple-time champion with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, and a World Cup and European Championship winner."
"Welcome, Ramos!"
"Your leadership, exceptional skills, and winning mentality will undoubtedly take the Blue and White to new heights!"
Notably, both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain extended their well wishes to the Spanish legend. Real Madrid also explained the reason behind Ramos’ choice of the No. 93 jersey.

Real Madrid’s official statement read:
"Ramos is set to play for the Mexican club Monterrey. The number he has chosen represents our 93rd minute – a nod to the unforgettable equalizer he scored in the 2014 Champions League final."
"A tribute to all Real Madrid fans, remembering the moment we changed history. Forever grateful. Best of luck, Ramos, and may you achieve even greater success."
In the 2014 Champions League final, Ramos scored a legendary equalizer for Real Madrid against Atlético Madrid at 92 minutes and 48 seconds, forcing extra time and ultimately securing the club’s 10th Champions League title.
Ramos is set to turn 39 years old. In the summer of 2021, he left Real Madrid after 16 years to join Paris Saint-Germain. In the summer of 2023, he returned to his boyhood club, Sevilla, on a free transfer. After his contract expired in 2024, he departed the team.
On the international stage, Ramos helped Spain win the 2010 FIFA World Cup, as well as the UEFA European Championships in 2008 and 2012.
