Barcelona Eye Joao Pedro as Long-Term Successor to Lewandowski
FC Barcelona have reportedly intensified their search for a future replacement for Robert Lewandowski, with Joao Pedro emerging as one of the club's top transfer targets. The Catalan side is already preparing for a new era in attack as Lewandowski approaches the final stage of his contract at Camp Nou.
According to reports from Spain, Barcelona view the Brazilian forward as a strong fit for their long-term project under Hansi Flick. Joao Pedro's versatility and technical ability have reportedly impressed the club's scouting department, especially his capacity to operate both as a central striker and a creative attacking player.
The player, who currently represents Chelsea FC, has continued to attract attention despite the English club's inconsistent performances in recent seasons. Since arriving in London, the Brazilian has developed into a more complete forward and has shown signs of becoming one of the Premier League's promising attacking talents.
Barcelona sporting director Deco is believed to have closely monitored the player for a long time. Reports suggest that discussions between Barcelona and the player's representatives have already taken place as the club explores whether a future deal could realistically be completed within their financial limitations.
Joao Pedro is also seen as a more achievable option compared to Julian Alvarez, another striker admired by Barcelona. While Atletico Madrid would likely demand an enormous fee for Alvarez, Chelsea may be willing to negotiate at a lower price range, although the transfer could still cost between €80 million and €100 million. Barcelona remain cautious financially, but their determination to secure a long-term attacking leader is becoming increasingly clear.
