Chelsea Star Mykhailo Mudryk Faces Historic Premier League Ban After Doping Verdict
Mykhailo Mudryk has been handed a four-year suspension by the Football Association following a doping violation that first led to his provisional ban in December 2024. The decision could keep the Chelsea winger out of professional football until 2030, unless a successful appeal changes the outcome.
The punishment places Mudryk in line for one of the longest sanctions ever imposed on a player linked to the Premier League. Since his last appearance in November 2024 during a Conference League match, he has remained away from competitive football while maintaining his innocence and continuing to train independently.
Mudryk arrived at Chelsea in 2023 from Shakhtar Donetsk in a deal worth £89 million, carrying high expectations as one of Europe's most promising young talents. However, his time in England has been marked by inconsistency, and his overall impact has fallen short of the ambitions attached to his transfer.
Under manager Enzo Maresca, there had reportedly been internal hopes of reintegrating the Ukrainian winger into the squad. Those close to the player had remained optimistic that he could overcome the disciplinary proceedings, but the latest ruling has significantly changed that outlook.
Across 73 appearances for Chelsea, Mudryk recorded 10 goals and 11 assists. While flashes of ability were evident, his numbers and overall influence have drawn criticism, with many viewing his signing as one of the club's most disappointing investments in recent years. The suspension now adds another difficult chapter to an already troubled spell in English football.
