Arsenal End 22-Year Wait to Finally Reclaim Premier League Crown
Arsenal have officially secured the 2025/2026 Premier League title after Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw by AFC Bournemouth. The result confirmed Arsenal as champions before the final round of the season, ending one of the longest title droughts in the club's modern history.
Manchester City entered the match knowing that only a victory would keep the title race alive until the final weekend. However, Bournemouth produced a strong performance and frustrated Pep Guardiola's side throughout the game, preventing City from closing the gap at the top of the table.
Bournemouth took the lead in the first half through Junior Kroupi, placing City under enormous pressure in a must-win situation. Erling Haaland eventually scored a late equalizer during injury time, but the goal arrived too late to change the outcome of the title race.
The championship marks Arsenal's first league triumph since the legendary 2003/2004 campaign. It also becomes the club's 14th English league title overall, strengthening their place among the most successful clubs in English football history behind Manchester United and Liverpool.
For manager Mikel Arteta, the title is the reward after several seasons of near misses against Manchester City. Arsenal supporters immediately celebrated around Emirates Stadium once the result became official, while the club still has another massive challenge ahead with a UEFA Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain later this month.
