Belgium Players to Receive €435,000 Bonus Each for World Cup Triumph

According to Belgian media outlet Nieuwsblad, if Belgium wins the FIFA World Cup, each player will receive a pre-tax bonus of €435,000.
Led by players such as Thibaut Courtois and Romelu Lukaku, the squad reached an agreement with the Belgian Football Association on the bonus structure well in advance. The same system will also apply to the 2028 UEFA European Championship.
In addition to the championship bonus, players would receive €370,000 each for finishing as runners-up, €312,000 for securing third place, and €40,000 for advancing from the group stage.
Players can also earn bonuses during the FIFA World Cup qualifiers. At that time, the reward for a victory was €6,500 per player, while a draw earned €2,000 and a defeat still brought in €200.
Although every participating nation in this World Cup will receive a participation fee of $10 million (€8.55 million) and an additional $2.5 million (€2.14 million) in "preparation funding," the costs associated with travel, accommodation, and training facilities are exceptionally high.
The Belgian Football Association recorded a modest profit of €250,000 in 2025 and hopes that the 2026 FIFA World Cup will help further improve its financial performance.
