Hakimi: "We Faced One of the Favorites, Brazil; I'm Proud of the Team's Efforts"

June 14 – After Morocco's 1-1 draw with Brazil in their World Cup opener, captain Achraf Hakimi gave a brief post-match interview on the pitch. He expressed pride in the team's performance, emphasized the need to improve with each match, and stressed the focus on recovery and preparation for the next game.
Q: That was a great match with a lot to be proud of, but also a lot to analyze. What key areas will you look to improve going forward?
Hakimi: "Yes. The match wasn't easy. As we said, we faced a very strong opponent, one of the favorites for this tournament. I'm proud of the team's effort. We drew, but we're satisfied with our performance. We still need to improve and grow with each match. That's what we'll focus on now – recover well and then concentrate on the next game."
Q: As captain, what message do you want to send to the team for the journey ahead?
Hakimi: "Just to keep going. We played a very good match. We must keep the positives. We'll learn from our mistakes, of course. But after that, we have to move forward. We have two more matches to continue our journey in this tournament. That's the most important thing."
