Special Scheduling Boost Gives Persib and Borneo FC an Edge in the 2026-27 Super League

Persib Bandung and Borneo FC are expected to receive special scheduling arrangements for the 2026-27 Super League season. The initiative from I.League aims to help both clubs maintain their competitiveness at home and abroad, as they are set to participate in several tournaments simultaneously.

Persib will face a demanding campaign involving the Super League, League Cup, AFC Champions League Two, and the ASEAN Club Championship. Borneo FC, which finished as runners-up in the previous season, will also compete in four competitions, including the AFC Challenge League and the regional club tournament. Managing such a packed calendar has become a major concern for both teams.

To address the issue, I.League officials held discussions with representatives from Persib and Borneo FC. During the meeting, the league management presented an overview of the season calendar, covering domestic fixtures as well as international commitments. The early planning is intended to help both clubs organize squad rotation and tactical preparations more effectively.

League officials explained that scheduling adjustments will be easier to implement during the group stages of Asian competitions because match dates are more predictable. This allows domestic fixtures to be arranged with greater certainty and reduces the risk of conflicts between tournaments.

Challenges could become more complicated if either club advances to the knockout rounds, as the Asian football governing body usually confirms those schedules at a later stage. Nevertheless, I.League hopes that close coordination and flexible planning will minimize difficulties and give Persib Bandung and Borneo FC the best opportunity to achieve success in both domestic and international competitions.
