AC Milan Closes In on Antonio Silva After Reaching Personal Terms with Benfica Defender
AC Milan has taken another major step in the summer transfer market after reportedly reaching a personal agreement with Benfica defender Antonio Silva. The Portuguese center-back is now believed to be close to joining the Italian club as negotiations between the two teams continue.
Following a disappointing 2025/26 campaign and a period of uncertainty caused by changes in the club's leadership structure, Milan has become increasingly active in rebuilding its squad. The club has already secured a record-breaking deal for Gonçalo Ramos and is now focusing on strengthening its defense.
Reports indicate that Antonio Silva has agreed in principle to a five-year contract that would keep him at San Siro until the summer of 2031. With the player's approval already in place, Milan is preparing to submit its first official bid to Benfica before the end of the week.
Benfica is reportedly seeking a transfer fee of around €20 million for the highly rated defender, who has also attracted interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League and the English Premier League. Milan, however, is expected to begin negotiations with an offer of approximately €15 million plus performance-related bonuses.
The pursuit of Silva reflects Milan's ambition to reshape its squad under new leadership while continuing to target talented players with long-term potential. If the two clubs can agree on the financial details, the Portuguese defender could become one of the Rossoneri's most important additions ahead of the new season.
