Netherlands Crash Out as Morocco Win Dramatic Penalty Shootout to Reach World Cup Last 16

The Netherlands were knocked out of the FIFA World Cup after a heartbreaking 4-3 penalty shootout defeat to Morocco following a 1-1 draw in 90 minutes.
Cody Gakpo broke the deadlock early in the second half to put the Dutch in front, but Diop struck deep into stoppage time to force the match into a penalty shootout.
In the shootout, the Netherlands missed three spot-kicks through Justin Kluivert, Quinten Timber and Crysencio Summerville. Morocco also saw Achraf Hakimi and Azzedine Ounahi miss from the spot, but ultimately held their nerve to secure a 4-3 shootout victory and eliminate the Dutch from the tournament.
