58.32% of Fans Want Tuchel Out as England Manager After Argentina Defeat

According to an exclusive poll conducted by The Sun, 58.32% of readers want Thomas Tuchel to step down as England manager.

The 52-year-old coach guided the Three Lions into the semi-finals with a resilient run, before they were eventually eliminated by Argentina. However, Tuchel faced criticism for his conservative substitutions during the match, particularly after Anthony Gordon gave England the lead. He brought on players such as Ezri Konsa, Dan Burn, and Nico O’Reilly in an attempt to protect the advantage.

Tuchel defended his decisions, explaining that England had lost control of the game because they were unable to maintain possession, and that the substitutions were made to cover defensive gaps and restore balance.

The Football Association (FA) is set to conduct a full review of England’s summer campaign, which will include an assessment of Tuchel’s performance. His contract runs until after Euro 2028, and he is still believed to have the full backing of the FA.

Sources close to Tuchel have expressed sympathy for his situation, arguing that he never instructed the team to adopt an overly defensive approach. Instead, they believe the shift in tactics happened naturally after Gordon’s 55th-minute goal.

Statistics showed that England had just 12% possession after taking the lead — an unusually low figure for a team that reached the semi-finals of a major tournament.

As the FA review begins, The Sun launched an exclusive fan poll on the issue, receiving more than 15,000 responses. The results showed that 58.32% of respondents do not want Tuchel to remain in charge.

Former Manchester United midfielder Nicky Butt has called for Tuchel to leave his position, while Gary Lineker stopped short of directly demanding his dismissal but questioned whether the German coach should continue.

Meanwhile, 32.38% of voters said they would continue to trust Tuchel to lead England into the European Championship in two years’ time, while 9.3% remained undecided.

Regardless of the outcome, the controversy surrounding England’s tournament performance is expected to dominate discussions among fans, media, and pundits for days, weeks, and even months to come.

Many critics accused Tuchel of making “cowardly” substitutions, but sources claim that some England players who appeared to blame the German coach for being too cautious were actually reflecting on their own shortcomings.

If Tuchel remains in charge, he will need to win over those who currently oppose him. Meanwhile, his supporters will hope that their continued faith can eventually bring the long-awaited trophy success.
