Persija Land Experienced Bosnian Midfielder Stjepan Loncar in Major Transfer Move

Persija Jakarta have strengthened their squad for the 2026/27 season by signing Bosnian midfielder Stjepan Loncar from Croatian club NK Istra 1961. The experienced playmaker has agreed to a two-year contract, bringing extensive European experience to the Indonesian giants.

Loncar began his professional career in Croatia with NK Neretvanac before returning to Bosnia and Herzegovina to play for Siroki Brijeg. His impressive performances earned him a move to HNK Rijeka, where he spent three seasons and established himself as a reliable midfielder.

The 29-year-old later continued his journey across Europe with Hungarian champions Ferencvaros and gained additional experience during a loan spell at Belgian side KV Kortrijk. He also featured for FC Astana in Kazakhstan and Lech Poznan in Poland before returning to Croatia with NK Istra for the 2025/26 campaign.

Throughout his career, Loncar has competed in six different countries and appeared in major European competitions, including the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and UEFA Europa Conference League. He has also represented the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team, earning 11 international caps.

Persija believe Loncar's experience and quality will add stability and creativity to their midfield as they target success in Liga 1. The Bosnian midfielder has expressed his excitement about beginning a new chapter in Indonesia and is determined to help the club compete for the league title.
