Coventry City Lead Race to Sign Fikayo Tomori as AC Milan Prepare Exit
Coventry City have emerged as the leading contenders to sign Fikayo Tomori after AC Milan reportedly informed the English defender that he is free to find a new club. Although Newcastle United have also been linked with the center-back, Coventry are currently viewed as the strongest candidate to secure his signature.
Tomori is no longer considered part of Milan's long-term plans, bringing his time in Serie A closer to an end. The former Chelsea defender has previously resisted attempts to leave the Italian club, showing his determination to fight for his place in the squad.
A move back to the Premier League almost happened when Tottenham Hotspur expressed interest, but Tomori ultimately decided against the transfer. His preference to remain outside England at the time delayed his departure from Milan, though his situation has now changed.
Coventry's pursuit is believed to be heavily influenced by manager Frank Lampard, who previously coached Tomori during their time together at Chelsea. Their strong working relationship is expected to play a significant role in the Championship club's efforts to complete the deal.
While Newcastle continue to monitor the defender's availability, Coventry appear to have gained momentum in the race. If an agreement can be reached, Tomori could become one of the club's biggest signings as they strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
