Phil Foden Commits Future to Manchester City with New Long-Term Contract
Manchester City have secured the future of Phil Foden after confirming the midfielder has signed a new four-year contract. The agreement will keep the academy graduate at the club until the end of the 2029/2030 season, with an option to extend the deal for an additional year.
The new contract comes after a challenging campaign for the 26-year-old, who was left out of England's FIFA World Cup squad following an inconsistent season. Despite that setback, Foden remained an important figure for City, making 50 appearances across all competitions and starting 33 matches.
Throughout the 2025/2026 season, Foden contributed significantly in attack with 10 goals and seven assists, while also creating 76 scoring opportunities for his teammates. His performances underlined his value to the squad even during a season that fell short of his usual standards.
Earlier this year, Foden reached another major milestone by becoming only the sixth Manchester City player to record at least 100 Premier League goal contributions. He also joined an elite group of Premier League players who have scored 10 or more goals in each of the last six seasons.
Manchester City see the contract extension as a reflection of Foden's importance to the club's long-term plans. Having risen through the club's academy and played a key role in one of the most successful eras in City's history, he is expected to remain a central figure as the team continues chasing domestic and international trophies in the coming years.
