Lois Openda Set for Lyon Switch After Confirming Juventus Exit
Juventus forward Lois Openda has confirmed that he is leaving the club after being left out of the squad for the preseason friendly against Standard Liège in Belgium. His absence came as transfer arrangements neared completion, signaling the end of his brief spell in Turin.
The Bianconeri continued their preparations for the new season with a 1-0 victory over Standard Liège, thanks to a well-taken free kick from Fabio Miretti. The win marked an improvement after Juventus had played out a goalless draw against Basel in their previous preseason outing.
While Juventus continue to reshape the squad under head coach Luciano Spalletti, Openda has secured a temporary move to Olympique Lyon. The agreement is reportedly a season-long loan without an option to make the transfer permanent, giving both the player and the club a fresh opportunity.
For Juventus, the loan helps reduce the wage bill over the coming year, while Openda gains the chance to revive a career that struggled to take off in Italy. Having previously played in French football, the Belgian striker is expected to benefit from returning to a more familiar environment where he can compete regularly.
Openda acknowledged that he is focused on completing his transfer and regaining consistent playing time after a difficult campaign. His main objective is to rediscover his scoring form, rebuild his confidence, and strengthen his chances of earning a place in the Belgium national team once again.
