Ajax Lands Julian Brandt on Free Transfer in Major Summer Signing

Ajax have completed the signing of German midfielder Julian Brandt on a free transfer after his contract with Borussia Dortmund expired this summer. The experienced playmaker arrives in Amsterdam following a successful seven-year spell in the Bundesliga, bringing proven quality and leadership to the Dutch club.
Brandt leaves Dortmund after making 307 appearances, scoring 57 goals, and providing 65 assists across all competitions. At 30 years old, he now begins a new chapter in the Netherlands, where Ajax believe his experience at the highest level will strengthen the squad.
Technical director Jordi Cruyff revealed that discussions with Brandt had been ongoing for several months. Despite receiving interest from other clubs, the German international chose Ajax, a decision viewed as a significant boost for the club's long-term ambitions.
The midfielder has signed a three-year contract that will keep him at Ajax until June 2029. He becomes the club’s fifth addition of the summer transfer window, joining Daley Blind, Caio Henrique, Marcos Leonardo, and Tolu Arokodare as part of an extensive squad rebuild.
After finishing fifth in the league last season, Ajax are determined to return to the top of Dutch football. The arrival of Brandt and several other high-profile signings reflects the club’s commitment to building a stronger team capable of challenging for domestic honors and competing at a higher level next season.
