Roma Complete Nahuel Molina Signing in Major Defensive Boost
AS Roma have completed the signing of Argentine right-back Nahuel Molina from Atletico Madrid in a deal worth up to €18 million. The move brings the World Cup finalist back to Serie A, where he previously impressed during his time with Udinese.
Molina returns to Italy after spending three seasons in Spain following his transfer to Atletico Madrid in 2022. Although his contract with the Spanish club was due to run until 2027, Roma secured the experienced defender for a lower fee than Atletico originally paid.
The 27-year-old is expected to travel to Italy shortly to complete his medical examination before joining Roma's preseason training camp in Wales. Reports indicate the agreement includes a fixed transfer fee along with performance-related bonuses, bringing the total value to €18 million.
Before reaching an agreement for Molina, Roma had prioritized a move for Feyenoord youngster Givairo Read. However, the Dutch club rejected Roma's offer, prompting the Italian side to shift its focus to the Argentina international.
Molina's arrival is expected to strengthen Roma's defensive options ahead of the new season. His experience at both club and international level should provide greater stability on the right flank as the team looks to compete for major honors.
