Persib Escape FIFA Transfer Ban Permanently After Settling Former Coach Dispute

Persib Bandung have officially had their FIFA Registration Ban permanently lifted after resolving an outstanding financial dispute involving former head coach Robert Rene Alberts. The club acted quickly after learning about the FIFA decision and completed the required payment, allowing the disciplinary case to be closed.

The ban had previously prevented Persib from registering new players for three transfer windows. FIFA imposed the sanction because the club had failed to fulfill a compensation obligation related to Alberts' contract termination. The dispute stemmed from his departure at the beginning of the 2022/2023 season, despite his contract with Persib originally running until 2025.

FIFA confirmed the resolution through an official letter dated August 11, 2026, under reference number FDD-28859. The governing body confirmed that the case had been closed after receiving evidence that Alberts had received the payment required under the ruling. As a result, the registration restriction connected to the dispute was removed permanently.

The financial obligation was originally scheduled to be paid in installments between March and December 2025. However, Alberts reported in June 2025 that Persib had failed to fulfill the agreed payments during the first three months of the arrangement. The unresolved matter eventually led to FIFA ruling in favor of the former coach and imposing the registration ban on the Bandung-based club.

With the issue now settled, Persib are free to register new players without the previous FIFA restriction. The resolution also allows the club to focus fully on preparations for the 2026/2027 season while demonstrating its commitment to meeting regulatory obligations and maintaining professional club management.
