Napoli Bring in Benoit Badiashile from Chelsea on Loan in €23 Million Deal

Napoli have officially completed the signing of Benoit Badiashile from Chelsea on a season-long loan, with an option to make the move permanent. The French centre-back arrives as the Italian champions look to strengthen their defensive options ahead of the new campaign. The agreement could eventually reach a total value of around €23 million if Napoli decide to complete the permanent transfer.

The reported structure of the deal includes a €3 million loan fee for the current season, followed by a further €20 million if Napoli choose to activate the purchase option. However, reports from Italian media have suggested that the final permanent fee could rise to approximately €27 million depending on additional clauses and bonuses. The different figures reflect the various conditions attached to the agreement.

Badiashile joined Chelsea from AS Monaco in January 2023 for around €37 million and has since gained valuable Premier League experience. He made 42 league appearances for the London club over the past four seasons, having previously featured 135 times in Ligue 1 for Monaco. His experience in two major European leagues could make him a useful addition to Napoli's defensive rotation.

The move represents another step in Napoli's squad-building plans during the summer transfer window. Badiashile becomes the club's second new signing, following the arrival of Costantino Favasuli from US Catanzaro. Napoli have also exercised permanent purchase options for Rasmus Hojlund, Alisson Santos and Vanja Milinkovic-Savic as part of their broader efforts to strengthen the squad.

For Badiashile, the move to Serie A offers an opportunity to regain consistency and establish himself in a new environment after a challenging period at Chelsea. Napoli will assess his performances throughout the season before deciding whether to make the transfer permanent. If he adapts quickly and delivers reliable performances, the French defender could become an important part of Napoli's plans for the future.
