Omar Marmoush Joins Tottenham on Loan as He Seeks a Bigger Role in North London

Omar Marmoush has officially joined Tottenham Hotspur from Manchester City on a season-long loan, with the agreement reportedly including an obligation to make the move permanent next summer for a fee of around £60 million including bonuses. The Egypt international has become the latest City player to move to north London, following Brazilian winger Savio, who recently completed his own transfer to Spurs.
Marmoush has made it clear that Tottenham’s ambitious project was a major factor behind his decision. The forward sees the club as one of the biggest names in English football and was attracted by the direction of the team. His discussions with head coach Roberto De Zerbi also reportedly gave him confidence that his approach to football would fit well with the manager’s plans.
The 27-year-old striker will wear the No. 22 shirt at Tottenham, a number previously associated with several players at the club, including Conor Gallagher, Harry Winks, Ryan Mason, and Paulinho. Marmoush now arrives in north London hoping to establish himself as an important attacking option and make a strong impression during his first season with Spurs.
Marmoush joined Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt for around £59 million in January 2025. He made 62 appearances across all competitions for the club, producing 16 goals and six assists. Despite those numbers, regular Premier League football remained difficult to secure, as he started only eight league matches during the previous campaign.
The move to Tottenham therefore represents an opportunity for Marmoush to revive his momentum and earn consistent playing time. His decision mirrors Savio’s desire to leave Manchester City in search of a more prominent role, with both players now beginning new chapters under De Zerbi. Tottenham will hope Marmoush can translate his previous scoring form into a productive Premier League campaign and justify the significant investment expected to follow his loan spell.
