Manchester United will begin their 2026-27 Champions League league-phase campaign when they host Azerbaijani champions Sabah at Old Trafford on Thursday. Manchester United have endured an inconsistent start to the Premier League season, collecting four points from their opening three matches. Sabah deserve considerable credit for reaching the Champions League league phase after navigating four qualifying rounds, and their excellent domestic form means Manchester United cannot afford to be complacent.

However, the difference in squad depth and individual quality should eventually become apparent. United should dominate possession and create the majority of the chances, particularly with home advantage behind them.

Sabah's attacking form could allow them to find a goal, especially against a United defence that has looked vulnerable early in the season.
