Amanda Staveley Eyes £2 Billion Premier League Takeover as Newcastle Returns to the Spotlight

Amanda Staveley is assembling a new investment group with ambitions to acquire a major Premier League club, with Newcastle United and West Ham emerging as the leading targets. After selling her six percent stake in Newcastle in July 2024, she has reportedly been seeking financial backing in the United States to support a large-scale football investment project.

A return to Newcastle has become a realistic possibility, particularly if Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund chooses to step away following a challenging campaign. Staveley played a central role in Newcastle's £310 million takeover in 2021, helping orchestrate the transition from former owner Mike Ashley and laying the groundwork for the club's new era.

Initial discussions reportedly included Tottenham Hotspur, but attention shifted elsewhere when negotiations failed to progress. Newcastle has now re-emerged as a prime target, though any deal would require around £2 billion. West Ham also remains under consideration, although the London club could command an even higher valuation due to strong international demand for teams based in the capital.

West Ham's market value may depend heavily on their Premier League status. A relegation would likely reduce the asking price and could also weaken investor interest. Their position near the bottom of the table has created uncertainty, while Newcastle have also endured a disappointing season, leaving both clubs facing questions about their future direction.

With Newcastle expected to miss out on European football next season, the club could face a turbulent transfer window. Key players such as Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali are attracting serious interest from top clubs across Europe. Their potential departures would add further intrigue to an already uncertain summer as ownership speculation continues to grow.
