Persija vs Persib Clash Moved to Samarinda Amid Security Concerns

The highly anticipated match between Persija Jakarta and Persib Bandung will no longer take place in Jakarta as originally planned. The rivalry match, considered one of the biggest fixtures in Indonesian football, has officially been relocated to Samarinda due to security permit issues surrounding the event in the capital city.

The game is part of the 32nd week of the BRI Super League 2025/2026 season and carries major importance in the title race. Supporters from both sides had been eagerly waiting for the encounter because of the long-standing tension and fierce competition between the two clubs. Persija initially intended to host the match at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, but authorities ultimately did not grant approval for the event.

The decision was confirmed by Ferry Paulus, who explained that league officials had coordinated with security authorities to find a solution. He noted that May is filled with numerous important national activities, creating concerns over public safety and crowd management if the match were held in Jakarta.

League organizers also considered rescheduling the fixture or moving it to another stadium on Java Island. However, the packed football calendar made changes difficult, especially with several major competitions and events approaching in the coming weeks. To ensure the league schedule remains intact, officials eventually selected Samarinda in East Kalimantan as the most suitable alternative venue.

Despite the relocation, Persija supporters will still be allowed to attend and support their team in Samarinda. However, away fans from Persib Bandung will not be permitted inside the stadium, in line with existing league regulations that continue to restrict visiting supporters during high-risk matches.
