Super League Cracks Down on Stadium Rules as Clubs Face Possible Point Deductions

Starting next season, clubs competing in Indonesia's Super League will be required to play their home matches only in stadiums officially registered through the club licensing process. Competition Director Asep Saputra explained that teams will no longer be allowed to use venues solely for administrative approval while playing elsewhere during the season. The new policy is intended to create stronger consistency between licensing documents and actual competition operations.

In previous seasons, several clubs managed to secure licenses by listing stadiums that met league standards even though those venues were rarely used for official matches. League officials believe the practice weakened the integrity of the licensing system. Under the updated regulation, the stadium submitted during licensing will become the primary and mandatory home venue throughout the competition.

The rule is also connected to each club's officially registered domicile. Clubs must complete regional administrative procedures and coordinate with their local football association branches. According to league management, the registered domicile will serve as the foundation for determining where teams are permitted to host matches during the season.

The announcement has raised questions about clubs that have spent recent years playing outside their home cities. One example is PSM Makassar, which frequently used alternative venues away from Makassar. Asep indicated that clubs are expected to return to their registered home bases whenever possible. Teams failing to comply with the regulation could potentially face sanctions, including starting the season with points deducted.

Asep also addressed the recent relocation of the match between Persija Jakarta and Persib Bandung to Samarinda. He described the decision as a force majeure situation caused by unavoidable circumstances and limited preparation time. League organizers considered the emergency conditions before approving the late venue change, emphasizing that such exceptions would only apply under extraordinary situations.
