Chicharito Backs Portugal and Ronaldo to Win the World Cup in Cristiano’s Final Tournament

Mexican star “Chicharito” Javier Hernández recently spoke to FIFA’s official website.
On working as a commentator for this tournament:
“I’m very excited. Instead of being on the pitch, I’ll be holding a microphone and talking about the players and teams. It’s going to be a completely different experience.”
On the Mexico national team:
“I hope they can perform well and build stronger chemistry in their final warm-up matches. The opening game against South Africa is crucial — they need to get off to a good start. Hopefully, we can keep the momentum going and achieve great results.”
As a player, what is your most unforgettable World Cup moment?
“My first World Cup in 2010 will always be unforgettable because I was very young, only 21 or 22 years old. In the second match, I scored against France. My grandfather had also scored against France at the 1954 World Cup, so that made it even more special for me. The squad we had at the 2018 World Cup in Russia was probably the best generation in our history, and we beat defending champions Germany in our opening match.”
Besides Mexico, which teams or players will you be watching closely?
“I think Portugal will win the World Cup because of Cristiano Ronaldo. It will be his last World Cup, and I hope he performs at his very best — we’ll see what happens. Of course, there’s also Argentina with Messi, and France with Mbappé and their outstanding generation of players. I could mention many more teams and players, but what I’m looking forward to most is simply enjoying the tournament. I hope this will be the greatest World Cup ever.”
