Barcelona Midfield Shake-Up Puts Marc Casadó’s Future in Doubt Amid Rising Competition

Marc Casadó, once seen as a long-term midfield option for Barcelona, is now facing growing uncertainty over his role at the club. Although he remains highly appreciated by supporters for his dedication and strong connection to the team, the current squad structure has made his path to consistent playing time increasingly complicated.
Over the past seasons, Casadó has shown steady development and professionalism whenever called upon, earning trust from fans and teammates alike. However, despite his loyalty to the club’s identity and his consistent effort to break into the first team, his opportunities have remained limited, especially under the current competitive environment in midfield.
The main challenge for the young midfielder comes from Barcelona’s crowded and high-quality midfield options. With players such as Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, and Marc Bernal competing for central roles, along with Dani Olmo and Fermín López offering additional attacking midfield depth, the competition has become extremely intense. This situation has pushed Casadó further down the pecking order in Hansi Flick’s plans.
At the same time, Barcelona’s transfer plans are adding more pressure to his situation. The expected arrival of Bernardo Silva on a free transfer would further strengthen the squad and increase competition for midfield and wide attacking positions. This signing is seen as a strategic move approved by the coaching staff, but it also means that at least one current midfielder may need to leave.
As a result, Casadó is beginning to consider alternatives more seriously than before. While he has not closed the door on his long-term future at Barcelona, he is now open to the idea of a loan move to gain regular playing time. His main priority remains developing as a first-team player, even if that progression has to continue away from Camp Nou for the time being.
