Persib Reshapes Squad After Parting Ways With Four Foreign Players Ahead of New Season
Persib Bandung has begun a major squad overhaul in preparation for the 2026/2027 season by releasing four foreign players following the conclusion of the 2025/2026 BRI Super League campaign. The changes reflect the club's determination to strengthen the team and build a more competitive roster under the leadership of new head coach Igor Tolic.
The latest departure is Welsh goalkeeper Adam Przybek, who left the club despite still having one year remaining on his contract. Both Persib and the player agreed to end their partnership on mutual terms, allowing him to pursue new opportunities while maintaining a professional relationship. His exit follows those of Layvin Kurzawa, Federico Barba, and Sergio Castel, who are also no longer part of the club's plans.
Przybek joined Persib at the start of the 2025/2026 season on a two-year contract with hopes of becoming a key figure in the squad. However, his progress was disrupted by a long-term injury that limited his opportunities to contribute throughout the campaign, making it difficult for him to establish a consistent role within the team.
Spanish striker Sergio Castel has also departed after joining Persib midway through the 2025/2026 season. Although he made eight appearances across domestic and continental competitions, the 31-year-old was unable to score during his time with the club. Following discussions between the coaching staff and the player, both parties agreed that ending the partnership was the best decision for the upcoming season.
The departures mark the beginning of Persib's rebuilding process as the club evaluates its squad ahead of a new campaign. By reshaping its foreign player roster, Persib aims to create a stronger and more balanced team capable of competing for success in both domestic and international competitions next season.
