Manchester United Eye Ayyoub Bouaddi as Lille Sets Major Condition for Summer Transfer

Manchester United are closely monitoring Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi as they look to strengthen their squad during the summer transfer window. The highly rated 18-year-old has also attracted attention from Manchester City, Bayern Munich, and Arsenal, making him one of Europe's most sought-after young midfielders. Although Bouaddi is believed to admire Paris Saint-Germain, the French champions are not actively pursuing a new midfielder at this time.

Lille are determined to keep Bouaddi for at least one more season despite growing interest from top clubs. The French side is reportedly willing to sell him for a fee between €80 million and €100 million, but only if the buying club agrees to loan him back immediately for the upcoming campaign. This condition reflects Lille's desire to continue his development while securing a significant transfer fee.

Bouaddi has already built an impressive résumé despite his young age. A product of Lille's academy, he has made nearly 100 senior appearances and gained valuable experience in both domestic and European competitions. His reputation rose even further after an outstanding display against Brazil at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he showcased his composure and technical ability.

Known primarily as a defensive midfielder, Bouaddi impressed with his passing accuracy and mature decision-making throughout the tournament. His playing style has convinced many scouts that he is capable of stepping directly into the first team of a major European club. These qualities have made him an attractive long-term investment as well as a player who could make an immediate impact.

Manchester United's midfield rebuild has increased the urgency to recruit new talent following key departures and injury concerns within the squad. While other midfield targets remain on the club's shortlist, Lille's demand to send Bouaddi back on loan could complicate negotiations. United are believed to prefer a signing who can contribute immediately, making the proposed arrangement difficult to accept despite the player's enormous potential.
