Persija Secures Eksel Runtukahu as Key Striker Targets Bigger Role in 2026/27 Campaign
Persija Jakarta has confirmed that local forward Eksel Runtukahu will remain with the club for the 2026/27 season, ensuring continuity in the team's attacking lineup. The 27-year-old striker is expected to play an even greater role as the club prepares for another highly competitive Super League campaign.
The decision to extend his stay follows an impressive season in which Eksel established himself as one of the league's most effective local forwards. He finished the previous campaign with six goals in 23 appearances, earning recognition for his consistent performances in front of goal.
His goals came against Persis Solo, Arema FC, Persik Kediri, and Persebaya Surabaya, while he also contributed one assist. Throughout the season, he registered 33 shots, with 18 of them on target, highlighting both his attacking presence and efficiency inside the penalty area.
Persija's management views his performances as proof of his value to the squad and believes he still has significant room for growth. The club expects him to raise his level further and become one of the team's leading figures as it pursues greater success next season.
For Eksel, remaining in Jakarta comes with a renewed determination to improve his finishing and help Persija compete for the Super League title. His continued presence gives the club a reliable local attacking option while maintaining stability within a squad aiming to challenge for the championship.
