Inter Milan End Cristian Romero Pursuit as Tottenham's Price Proves Too High
Inter Milan have decided against pursuing Cristian Romero after determining that Tottenham Hotspur's asking price is beyond their summer transfer budget. The Serie A champions are currently searching for defensive reinforcements following Denzel Dumfries' move to Real Madrid.
The club had originally identified several options to strengthen the right side of the defense, but their plans suffered setbacks after Marco Palestra chose Chelsea and Anan Khalaili failed his medical examination. Those developments have forced Inter to continue exploring alternative targets before the new season.
Djed Spence has now emerged as Inter's leading candidate despite expectations that Tottenham will demand a higher transfer fee than the club initially planned to spend. Inter are reportedly preparing to open formal negotiations while continuing to monitor other defensive options, including Strasbourg's Guela Doue.
During early discussions between the two clubs, Cristian Romero's name also surfaced as a possible target. However, Tottenham's reported €50 million valuation of the Argentine international quickly made the deal financially unrealistic for the Italian side.
As a result, Inter have shifted their attention toward more affordable signings that better fit their transfer strategy. The club remains focused on strengthening its squad while maintaining financial discipline ahead of the upcoming Serie A campaign.
