Casemiro Begins New MLS Chapter After Completing Inter Miami Move
Brazilian midfielder Casemiro has officially joined Inter Miami after leaving Manchester United as a free agent. The experienced midfielder has signed an initial one-year contract, with an option that could keep him at the MLS club through the 2029 season.
The 34-year-old ends a successful four-year spell at Old Trafford, where he arrived from Real Madrid and helped Manchester United win the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024. He also featured throughout the club's run to the 2025 UEFA Europa League final, where United finished as runners-up.
Casemiro enjoyed one of his strongest individual campaigns during the 2025/2026 season. He scored a career-high nine Premier League goals, surpassing his previous scoring records and making a significant attacking contribution despite primarily playing in a defensive midfield role.
On the international stage, Casemiro started all five of Brazil's matches at the FIFA World Cup. He played a key role by scoring an important equalizer in the knockout victory over Japan, although Brazil's tournament ended in the Round of 16 following a defeat to Norway.
At Inter Miami, Casemiro will reunite with global stars Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez, two former rivals from his memorable years at Real Madrid. The Brazilian sees the move as an opportunity to continue competing for trophies while contributing his experience and leadership to one of Major League Soccer's most ambitious projects.
