Justin Hubner Ends Indonesia Transfer Speculation, Commits to Continuing His European Career

Justin Hubner has dismissed growing speculation linking him with a move to the Indonesian Super League, making it clear that his immediate focus remains on building his career in Europe. The Fortuna Sittard defender addressed the rumors after attracting interest from several Indonesian clubs in recent weeks.

The transfer talk gained momentum following reports that clubs, including Garudayaksa FC, were eager to sign the Indonesian international. The speculation also caught the attention of Fortuna Sittard supporters, prompting questions about Hubner's future during the club's preseason tour in France.

Hubner responded after helping Fortuna Sittard secure a 3-1 victory over FC Metz, a match in which he scored one of the goals. His comments indicated that he is happy with his current situation and intends to continue competing in European football rather than returning to Indonesia at this stage of his career.

His club situation also affects his availability for Indonesia at the 2026 ASEAN Championship. Although he was included in the national team's final squad, the tournament falls outside the FIFA international calendar, meaning Fortuna Sittard is not required to release him for international duty.

The Indonesian Football Association is still awaiting a final decision from the Dutch club regarding his participation, while head coach John Herdman has prepared the squad without assuming Hubner will be available. For now, the defender's latest remarks have made his priorities clear, with his long-term development in European football remaining his main objective despite continued interest from clubs in Indonesia.
