Beşiktaş Puts Mohamed Salah Deal on Hold Over Financial Demands
Beşiktaş has confirmed that its pursuit of Mohamed Salah has stalled after negotiations reached a deadlock over the Egyptian forward's financial expectations. The Turkish club remains interested in signing the experienced attacker but has made it clear that it will not alter its transfer policy to complete the move.
Salah became a free agent after agreeing to end his Liverpool contract ahead of schedule at the conclusion of the 2025–26 season. His availability quickly sparked transfer speculation, with Beşiktaş emerging as one of the clubs linked to the former Premier League star following the FIFA World Cup.
During his time at Liverpool, Salah established himself as one of the club's greatest players, making more than 300 Premier League appearances while producing an outstanding combination of goals and assists. His impressive record has naturally attracted interest from clubs seeking an experienced world-class forward.
According to Beşiktaş sporting director Onder Ozen, negotiations became increasingly difficult because of additional financial requests submitted through Salah's representatives, particularly those related to image rights. The club believes the proposed terms exceed what it has ever offered to any player or member of its staff.
Despite the setback, Beşiktaş has not completely closed the door on a potential transfer. The club's original offer remains available, but its leadership has emphasized that maintaining financial discipline and respecting the club's long-term strategy take priority over signing any individual player. With Salah's camp also reportedly in talks with other clubs, negotiations appear unlikely to resume unless the existing proposal is accepted.
