Neymar Unsure of Future After Santos Contract, Says Retirement Not on His Mind

Neymar has revealed that he has no plans to retire at the moment, but admitted he is still uncertain about what comes next once his contract with Santos expires at the end of the year.

Speaking ahead of the 6th Neymar Institute Project Charity Auction, the Santos No. 10 said he has not yet decided when he will call time on his career. His current contract with the Brazilian club runs until December.

In an interview with his personal channel, Neymar said retirement is not on his mind at the moment.

"I don't know how much longer I'll keep playing. I haven't thought about stopping, and I don't know how long I can continue. My contract with Santos runs until December."

The Brazilian star added that his immediate priority is to honor his current deal with Santos before making any decisions about his future.

"My plan is to fulfill this contract and defend the Santos shirt in the best way possible. Once the contract is over, I'll decide whether to stay at Santos, move elsewhere, retire, or keep playing."

Neymar also spoke positively about his physical condition, saying he has been feeling stronger with each passing week.

"I really don't know what I'll do next. There's still some time until December, so I'll take it step by step. Physically, I'm feeling better and better on the pitch, and that's the most important thing."

The 34-year-old recently struggled with injuries, which disrupted his preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. However, he has now recovered and has been receiving more playing time for Santos.

Neymar has been included in Santos' squad for Tuesday's (August 4) Copa do Brasil second-leg clash against Remo.
