Lazio and Porto Compete for Santiago Gimenez as AC Milan Weigh Transfer Decision

Santiago Gimenez has emerged as a transfer target for both Lazio and FC Porto during the summer window, with both clubs reportedly approaching AC Milan to explore the possibility of signing the Mexican striker. However, the Italian club has yet to decide whether it is prepared to let the forward leave on a temporary deal.

Gimenez joined Milan from Feyenoord in January 2025 in a transfer worth more than €30 million plus bonuses. Despite arriving with high expectations, he has struggled to establish himself as a consistent starter, leading to growing speculation about his future ahead of the new season.

His prospects have become even more uncertain following Milan's acquisition of Goncalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain. Increased competition in attack has reduced Gimenez's chances of regular playing time, encouraging the striker to consider a move that could provide more opportunities on the pitch.

During his time at San Siro, Gimenez has contributed seven goals and six assists in 37 appearances across all competitions. His progress was also disrupted by a serious ankle injury that required surgery, forcing him to spend a significant period on the sidelines last season before returning to action.

Lazio are reportedly interested in securing the 25-year-old on a season-long loan without a purchase option, while FC Porto are also searching for attacking reinforcements following an injury to one of their key forwards. AC Milan remain hesitant to approve a loan without a guaranteed transfer fee, as the club is looking to generate funds to strengthen the squad before the transfer window closes.
