Al-Ahli Appoint Marino Pusic After Jaissle's Newcastle Exit

Al-Ahli have officially named Marino Pusic as their new head coach following the departure of Matthias Jaissle to Newcastle United. The Saudi club acted quickly to secure a replacement as preparations continue for the upcoming season.
Pusic has signed a contract running until 2028 and will immediately take charge of a squad facing a demanding schedule. His first challenges include the Saudi Pro League campaign and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.
The club selected the 54-year-old because his attacking style, tactical flexibility, and high-intensity approach align with Al-Ahli's long-term vision. Club officials believe his philosophy suits the strengths of the current squad and supports their ambitions for continued success.
Pusic arrives with an impressive coaching résumé after winning major domestic trophies in both the Netherlands and Ukraine. He joins Al-Ahli after his most recent spell in charge of UAE side Al Jazira.
Al-Ahli have also reshaped their squad during the summer transfer window, with several experienced players departing and Francisco Trincao emerging as the headline signing. Pusic will now aim to build a competitive team capable of defending the AFC Champions League Elite title while challenging for domestic honors.
