Inter Milan Eye Long-Term Federico Dimarco Deal After Impressive Preseason
Federico Dimarco has once again underlined his importance to Inter Milan after delivering a strong performance against AC Milan in a preseason friendly in Perth. The Italian wing-back opened the scoring in the 1-1 draw at Optus Stadium, finishing from close range after a well-timed assist from Nicolo Barella.
Dimarco's latest display has also sparked fresh discussion about his future at San Siro. According to reports from SportMediaset, the 28-year-old currently has a contract that runs until 2027, but Inter hold a unilateral option to extend the agreement for another season. That clause could keep him at the club until 2028 without the need for a new deal.
Despite having the option to extend his contract automatically, Inter are reportedly considering a more ambitious approach. The club would prefer to negotiate directly with Dimarco's representatives over a long-term agreement that could keep the wing-back in Milan until 2030, reflecting his growing importance within the squad.
Dimarco enjoyed a remarkable 2025/26 campaign, setting a new Serie A record for assists in a single season with 17. His creative contribution played a major role in Inter's success as they secured both the Serie A title and the Coppa Italia. He has also continued to make an impact during preseason, providing another assist in the friendly against Manchester City in Hong Kong.
His influence has become so significant that Inter coach Cristian Chivu has had to explore different positions for Carlos Augusto to accommodate Dimarco more effectively. Augusto has been used as a left-sided centre-back or on the right flank as a rotational option, highlighting how highly Dimarco is valued. With his contract situation now attracting attention, Inter appear keen to ensure their standout wing-back remains a key part of the team for many years.
