Fenerbahce Push for Romelu Lukaku as Napoli Hold Firm on Transfer Fee
Romelu Lukaku is emerging as a major target for Fenerbahce as the Belgian striker considers his next move after his spell at Napoli. The 33-year-old forward is reportedly keen to remain in European football rather than accept offers from the Saudi Pro League or MLS, making a move to Turkey an increasingly attractive option.
Fenerbahce have taken concrete steps to negotiate Lukaku's transfer, with his agent Federico Pastorello helping facilitate discussions between the Turkish and Italian clubs. The player has reportedly reached a personal agreement with Fenerbahce, but negotiations remain complicated by the gap between the two clubs over the transfer fee.
Napoli are believed to be seeking between €10 million and €15 million for Lukaku, while Fenerbahce's reported offers have been considerably lower. Some reports have placed their bids between €4 million and €8 million, although Turkish transfer journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu has suggested that the Turkish side could eventually raise their offer to around €10 million.
Napoli are already considering their options should Lukaku leave. Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus has reportedly emerged as a potential replacement, although his contract situation could make a straightforward loan deal with an option to buy difficult. Napoli would therefore face another complicated negotiation to find an experienced striker capable of filling Lukaku's role.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his club future, Lukaku continues to show that he remains a dangerous presence in front of goal. His goal for Belgium against the United States at the 2026 World Cup underlined his continued scoring ability. With Fenerbahce determined to strengthen their attack and Lukaku eager to stay in Europe, the transfer could depend largely on whether both clubs can reach an agreement over the final price.
