PSG Bring Lucas Digne Back from Aston Villa on Three-Year Deal

Paris Saint-Germain have officially brought Lucas Digne back to the club, signing the French left-back to a three-year contract after more than four seasons with Aston Villa. The transfer marks Digne's return to Ligue 1 and begins his second spell with PSG more than a decade after his first stint in Paris.

Digne originally played for PSG between 2013 and 2015 before moving on to continue his career elsewhere in Europe. His return comes with considerably more experience, having established himself as a reliable defender at both club and international level. During his time at Aston Villa, he made 182 appearances across all competitions.

The 31-year-old was also an important member of Aston Villa's successful European campaign last season. He started nine Europa League matches, including the final, as Villa went on to lift the trophy. His consistent involvement in European competition underlines the experience he can now bring to PSG's squad.

Digne also has significant international experience with France, including starting six matches during the national team's run to the World Cup semifinals. At PSG, his arrival will increase competition for the left-back position currently occupied by Nuno Mendes while giving the squad greater depth and another experienced option.

PSG enter the new season as back-to-back Champions League winners and will be looking to maintain their dominance at the highest level. Digne's return adds another experienced figure to an already ambitious squad, while his previous connection with the club could help him settle quickly. After making 30 appearances during his first PSG spell, he now returns to Paris with the chance to contribute during another major chapter in the club's history.
