Mike Maignan Frustrated With Milan Direction as Al-Nassr Circle the French Goalkeeper

Mike Maignan is reportedly unhappy with the current direction of AC Milan, with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr emerging as a potential destination for the French goalkeeper. The Milan captain is said to be increasingly frustrated by developments at the club after a turbulent period that has seen several key figures leave San Siro.

Maignan was close to leaving Milan last summer after receiving a lucrative offer from Chelsea. A transfer appeared likely at the time, but Milan ultimately decided against selling their first-choice goalkeeper. He was subsequently persuaded to remain at the club by Max Allegri, sporting director Igli Tare and goalkeeper coach Claudio Filippi, eventually agreeing to a contract extension that keeps him at San Siro until June 2031.

The situation has changed significantly since then, however. Allegri, Tare and Filippi were all dismissed in May following Milan's failure to qualify for the Champions League. Their departures have reportedly left Maignan disappointed, particularly because of his close relationship with Allegri and his apparent dissatisfaction with how the former coach was removed.

Maignan is now reportedly frustrated with the direction being taken by Milan, despite being tied to the club on a long-term contract. He has also delayed his return from the post-World Cup holiday, moving his expected arrival from August 12 to August 16. The timing has fueled further speculation about his current feelings toward the club.

According to reports from Italy, Al-Nassr have already shown interest in the 30-year-old goalkeeper, who could become an attractive target for the Saudi Pro League side. Maignan has been Milan's first-choice goalkeeper since arriving from Lille in the summer of 2021, when he replaced Gianluigi Donnarumma, and his status as both captain and an established international makes his situation one to monitor closely.
