Persib’s AFC Appeal Rejected as Heavy Sanctions Remain in Place

Persib’s AFC Appeal Rejected as Heavy Sanctions Remain in Place

Persib Bandung have suffered another setback after the AFC Appeals Committee rejected their challenge against disciplinary sanctions related to their match against Ratchaburi FC in the 2025/2026 AFC Champions League Two. The decision, issued on August 13, confirms that the Indonesian club remains responsible for three violations of the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Code. The appeal was dismissed in full, leaving the original punishment intact.
As a result of the failed appeal, Persib must pay an additional fine of US$1,000, on top of the original US$20,000 penalty. The combined financial sanction now stands at US$21,000, placing another burden on the club as it prepares for the new continental campaign. The decision also means there will be no further appeal against the ruling.
The most significant part of the punishment is the continued ban on supporters attending two of Persib’s home matches. The first affected fixture will be the AFC Champions League Two playoff against Manila Digger on August 31, 2026. Persib had planned to host the match at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium, but the contest will have to take place behind closed doors.
The original sanctions were imposed by the AFC Disciplinary Committee on May 13 following Persib’s encounter with Ratchaburi. The club was found responsible for failing to control supporters whose conduct was considered disorderly, while the case also involved violations related to safety. The AFC considered the incidents serious enough to warrant both a financial penalty and a two-match home crowd ban.
Persib had challenged the punishment because the club believed the sanctions were excessive, but the appeal process has now ended without any reduction. The latest ruling makes the disciplinary measures final, leaving Persib to focus on managing the consequences while preparing for the crucial playoff. Playing without their supporters will be a major disadvantage, particularly in a continental fixture where home support can have a significant impact.
