Juventus Complete Guglielmo Vicario Loan Move With €8 Million Purchase Option

Juventus have officially completed the signing of Guglielmo Vicario from Tottenham Hotspur, ending their lengthy search for a new goalkeeper during the summer transfer window. The 29-year-old Italian arrives in Turin on loan and is expected to provide greater stability and competition between the posts ahead of the new Serie A campaign.

The agreement includes an option to make the transfer permanent without any obligation to buy before June 30, 2027. Should Juventus decide to keep Vicario beyond his loan spell, they will reportedly pay €8 million, with a further €2 million available in performance-related bonuses. The structure gives the Italian club flexibility while allowing Vicario time to establish himself in the squad.

Vicario began his professional career with Udinese before gaining valuable experience at Venezia, Perugia, Cagliari and Empoli. His time at Empoli was particularly important, as he made 69 Serie A appearances and developed a reputation as one of the league's reliable goalkeepers. He moved to Tottenham in 2023 and went on to make 117 appearances for the Premier League club.

The move back to Italy comes as Juventus look to strengthen a position that had raised concerns during the summer. Michele Di Gregorio's inconsistent performances prompted the club to consider several high-profile alternatives, including Liverpool's Alisson Becker and Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez. Juventus ultimately settled on Vicario, whose experience in Serie A and at Tottenham made him an attractive option for Luciano Spalletti's side.

Vicario will join Mattia Perin and Carlo Pinsoglio as Juventus' senior goalkeeping options. His arrival adds depth and competition ahead of the club's opening Serie A fixture against Frosinone on August 23. With his experience at both domestic and European level, Vicario will be expected to play an important role as Juventus begin their new campaign.
