Mattia Perin Leaves Juventus for Palermo in Surprising Serie B Move

Mattia Perin has officially ended his time at Juventus after completing a move to Serie B side Palermo. The transfer brings an end to his spell in Turin, with the two clubs reaching an agreement that allows the experienced goalkeeper to continue his career in Sicily.
Perin’s final appearance for Juventus came in their opening Serie A fixture against Frosinone. He entered the match in the 90th minute after Guglielmo Vicario was forced off with cramps. Juventus went on to secure a narrow 1-0 victory through Gleison Bremer, who headed in Francisco Conceicao’s delivery in the 22nd minute.
The 33-year-old goalkeeper had been part of Juventus’ squad as the club prepared for the new campaign under Luciano Spalletti. However, with Vicario now established as one of the team’s main goalkeeping options, Perin’s departure provides him with an opportunity to take on a more significant role at Palermo.
The transfer initially faced complications because Juventus had reportedly demanded a €500,000 fee along with another €1.5 million in bonuses if Palermo earned promotion to Serie A. That potential package could have reached €2 million, making the deal difficult for the Serie B club to complete. Agent Alessandro Lucci subsequently played an important role in helping the two sides reach an agreement.
Juventus and Palermo officially confirmed Perin’s transfer on Wednesday, August 26, although neither club disclosed the financial terms. Reports indicate that Palermo will not pay an immediate transfer fee, while Juventus could receive €500,000 if the Sicilian club wins promotion to Serie A. The arrangement gives Perin a fresh challenge while allowing Palermo to add valuable experience between the posts.
