Indonesia Face Tough Asian Cup Group as Japan Lead Market Values
Indonesia will face a demanding challenge in Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup, with Japan, Qatar, and Thailand completing the group. Beyond their performances on the pitch, the market values of the four squads offer an interesting indication of the financial strength and depth available to each national team. Based on Transfermarkt figures, Indonesia currently ranks third in the group with a squad value of €9.43 million, equivalent to around Rp163.82 billion.
Japan are by far the most valuable team in the group, with their squad estimated at €295.85 million, or approximately Rp5.14 trillion. Their huge valuation is largely driven by the number of players competing in Europe. Kaishu Sano is currently Japan’s most valuable player at €50 million, while Zion Suzuki is valued at €30 million. Yuto Suzuki, Takefusa Kubo, and Ayase Ueda also contribute significantly, with each carrying a market value of at least €20 million.
Qatar occupy second place with a total squad value of €20.13 million, worth roughly Rp349.81 billion. Much of their squad remains based in the domestic league, although several players have considerable market values. Akram Afif leads the ranking at €8 million, followed by Almoez Ali and Edmilson Junior at €1.8 million each. Goalkeepers Meshaal Barsham and Mahmoud Abunada also add to the overall value of the Maroons squad.
Indonesia’s current valuation does not fully reflect the potential strength of the team that could compete at the Asian Cup. Several important players are not included in the existing calculation, including Jay Idzes at €14 million, Kevin Diks at €5 million, Emil Audero at €2.8 million, and Calvin Verdonk at €2.5 million. Their inclusion would significantly increase Indonesia’s overall market value and could place the Garuda much closer to Qatar in financial terms.
Thailand currently sit fourth with a squad value of €5.48 million, around Rp95.16 billion. However, their figure may also rise when overseas-based players are taken into account, particularly Suphanat Mueanta and Nicholas Mickelson, who are both valued at approximately €1 million. While Japan remain in a different financial category from the rest of the group, Indonesia’s potential squad additions suggest that the Garuda could enter the 2027 Asian Cup with considerably greater strength than their current market valuation indicates.
