Inter Milan and Roma’s Valuation Gap Surges as Champions League Drives Growth

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the valuation gap between Inter Milan and Roma has continued to widen over the past decade, with Champions League participation being a major factor.

While Roma and Inter may occupy similar positions in the league table, the two clubs are operating on an entirely different level financially. As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri are now valued at more than €2 billion, with their exact enterprise value standing at €2.137 billion, compared with €730 million for Roma. The valuations come from Football Benchmark.

Historically, the two clubs were almost on equal footing in 2016, when Inter were valued at €399 million and Roma at €358 million. The gap began to widen in 2019, when Inter increased their advantage to €176 million. By 2022, the difference had approached €1 billion, before reaching €1.7 billion in 2025 and growing further to its current level.

Roma’s growth has been far more modest. The club’s value has increased by just 104%, while Inter’s valuation has risen by 435%. Champions League participation has undoubtedly been one of the key factors. Inter returned to Europe’s premier club competition in 2018 and have remained a regular presence ever since. That same year, Roma reached the Champions League semi-finals, shortly before Alessandro Florenzi scored his memorable goal against Lazio, but the club then entered a seven-year decline before finally returning to the competition this season.

In terms of revenue, Inter recorded a club-record €546 million during the 2024-25 season and are on course to record a profit for the second consecutive year.

Roma, meanwhile, have managed to reduce the scale of their losses, but still posted a deficit of €54 million for the 2024-25 season and are set to record another loss-making financial year.
