Indonesia Confirms Two Iconic Venues for FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026

Indonesia has officially secured hosting rights for the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026, with two major stadiums selected to stage the tournament. The Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta and Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung Regency will serve as the main venues as Indonesia prepares for another major international football event. The tournament is scheduled to take place from September 21 to October 6, 2026, during the FIFA Matchday period.

The hosting confirmation was announced following a coordination meeting involving the Indonesian government and several key institutions. Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir confirmed that President Prabowo Subianto had submitted a government guarantee to FIFA, which was subsequently accepted. Although Indonesia has received confirmation as the host, discussions regarding the final host contract are still being completed, with the remaining process expected to follow arrangements similar to previous FIFA tournaments held in the country.

Preparations have involved a broad range of stakeholders, including the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Manpower, West Java provincial government, the Indonesian National Police, PSSI and the management authority of the Gelora Bung Karno complex. The coordination is intended to ensure that infrastructure, security, administration and other operational requirements are ready well before the competition begins. The government has also emphasized its commitment to making major international sporting events a regular feature in Indonesia.

Further details regarding the participating teams and the complete match schedule have yet to be finalized. Indonesia is still working with FIFA to synchronize several aspects of the competition before the overall tournament plan can be completed. The confirmation of the hosting rights nevertheless provides an important boost for Indonesian football, particularly with the national team expected to use the competition as part of its international calendar.

The FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 will feature two divisions, with the top division consisting of eight nations divided into Group A and Group B. Indonesia will host the Division 1 competition, making the choice of Gelora Bung Karno and Si Jalak Harupat particularly significant. Both stadiums are expected to play a central role as Indonesia looks to deliver a successful tournament on home soil while strengthening its position as a host for major international football events.
