UEFA Releases €31.5 Million in Compensation for Clubs Supplying Nations League Players

UEFA has announced an initial €31.5 million payment to clubs whose players represented their national teams during the 2024–25 UEFA Nations League. The amount, equivalent to roughly Rp642 billion, forms part of UEFA’s club compensation system and was officially announced on September 29, 2026. The scheme is designed to recognize the contribution made by clubs that release their players for international competitions.

The payment is the first stage of the UEFA Club Benefits Programme, which operates under an agreement between UEFA and the European Football Clubs (EFC), an organization representing more than 800 clubs across Europe. Through the programme, UEFA aims to distribute part of the revenue generated by international competitions back to the clubs that contribute players to national teams.

The overall compensation package is expected to reach €104 million across the current cycle. The funds cover clubs releasing players for the 2024–25 and 2026–27 Nations League campaigns, as well as the qualification phase for UEFA Euro 2028. The programme is intended to benefit clubs across different levels of European football, including teams outside the continent’s biggest leagues.

A total of 611 clubs from UEFA member associations are set to benefit from the initial distribution, with even some amateur clubs included among the recipients. RB Leipzig are reported to receive the largest individual payment in this round, earning approximately €353,000 after providing 16 players for international duty. The figures highlight how the programme can provide financial support to clubs of varying sizes.

The compensation also underlines the important relationship between national teams and the clubs that develop and employ their players throughout the season. With the 2026–27 Nations League campaign now underway, further payments are expected as the competition cycle progresses. UEFA’s system provides clubs with financial recognition for making their players available while helping strengthen the wider European football ecosystem.
