Getafe Offer Jadon Sancho a Fresh Start in Spain After Manchester United Exit

Jadon Sancho could be preparing for a new chapter in his career after Spanish side Getafe reportedly made an official offer to sign the former Manchester United winger on a free transfer. The 26-year-old has been without a club since his contract at Old Trafford expired at the end of last season. According to reports from Sport and Sky Sports Germany, Getafe submitted their initial proposal to his representatives on October 15, offering the England international an opportunity to revive his career in LaLiga.

Sancho joined Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 for a reported £73 million, but he struggled to establish himself as a consistent first-team regular. His time at the English club was marked by several loan spells, including returns to Dortmund and stints with Chelsea and Aston Villa. During his most recent loan spell at Villa, Sancho made 39 appearances and experienced another change in his career before United decided not to extend his contract, leaving him free to explore new opportunities.

Getafe believe a move to Spain could provide the winger with the right environment to rediscover his best form. The Madrid-based club reportedly see similarities between Sancho's situation and Mason Greenwood's successful spell in LaLiga after leaving Manchester United on loan in 2023. Greenwood rebuilt his reputation in Spain before completing a move to Marseille in 2024. Getafe will hope Sancho can follow a similar path and become an influential figure in Jose Bordalas' squad.

Although Sancho's estimated market value stands at around €10 million, Getafe would not need to pay a transfer fee because he is currently a free agent. The main challenge, however, is expected to be his salary demands. The Spanish club must find a financial arrangement that fits within its existing wage structure and complies with LaLiga's financial regulations. Reaching an agreement on personal terms will therefore be crucial if the proposed move is to progress.

Getafe have already demonstrated their willingness to strengthen the squad with experienced players by bringing in former Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal as a free agent in October. Adding Sancho would provide another high-profile reinforcement and give the club greater attacking quality. For the winger, a move to Spain could offer a valuable opportunity to regain confidence, secure regular playing time, and rebuild his reputation after several inconsistent seasons in England. However, the transfer will depend largely on whether both parties can reach an agreement that works financially.
