Persib and Iraq World Cup Defender Frans Putros Part Ways After Historic Title Success
Frans Putros has officially left Persib Bandung following the conclusion of his contract, ending a successful one-season spell with the Indonesian champions. The Iraq international departs after helping the club secure a third consecutive league title before representing his country at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Persib had hoped to keep the experienced defender for the 2026/27 campaign and entered negotiations over a new contract. Despite discussions between both parties, they were unable to reach an agreement, leading to a mutual decision to end their partnership.
Although his time with the club lasted only one season, Putros played a significant role in Persib's championship-winning campaign. His consistent performances and defensive leadership helped the team maintain its dominance throughout the league season and achieve another historic title.
His impressive form at club level also earned him a return to the Iraq national team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The achievement highlighted his strong performances and reflected positively on both the player and Persib during the past year.
Putros made 28 appearances and scored once during the 2025/26 Super League season while providing valuable experience and leadership on and off the pitch. As the defender moves on to the next stage of his career, Persib closes the chapter with appreciation for his professionalism and contribution to one of the club's most successful seasons.
