FIFA Resale Prices for England national football team World Cup Tickets Soar to 94 Times Face Value

According to The Sun, tickets originally allocated to England national football team supporters have reappeared on a FIFA-backed resale platform, with the most expensive listings reaching 94 times their face value.
The report states that these Category 4 tickets, originally priced at £44 (around $60), were reserved for England’s three group-stage matches. Around 200 such tickets are currently listed on FIFA’s official resale website, with prices climbing as high as £4,251 per ticket.
For England’s opening match against Croatia national football team on June 17 at AT&T Stadium, tickets originally costing £44 are now being resold for £1,672. Tickets for England’s June 27 clash against Panama national football team in New Jersey have risen to £1,187, while seats for the June 23 match against Ghana national football team in Boston have soared to an astonishing £4,251.

The The Football Association stated that none of the 500 members of its England Supporters Travel Club had resold their allocated £44 tickets for profit.
It is understood that the resold tickets originated from a limited batch made available through FIFA’s public ballot system.
Seventy-year-old supporter Steve Hartshorn from Walsall said: “The FA must investigate to ensure no England fans are reselling tickets. Anyone doing so should be removed from the travel club. Selling a £44 ticket for £2,000 is blatant profiteering and completely wrong. I don’t know any fans who resell tickets, and I would never do it myself.”
Another England Supporters Travel Club member from Sheffield, who has followed the team since the 1998 World Cup in France, said: “Some fans bought tickets without ever intending to attend, which is sad. But the huge costs of flights and hotels are putting people off. Money now rules everything. FIFA allowing tickets to be resold at ridiculous prices is backfiring badly.”
The Football Supporters’ Association added: “Any football ticket being sold for thousands of pounds is simply an expression of greed.”
As of now, FIFA has not responded publicly to the matter.
